Depending on the application, a broad range of configuration options are at your disposal: choose between the Do-Corder ‘Plus’ or Lab-Station drives and the measuring heads for your analysis.
The sample is inserted via a dosing opening and then extruded. During the analysis, sensors and controllers measure relevant values, such as temperature and pressure. Clear values are presented to form a correlation between the process and the product. This enables to set specific product characteristics and optimise your extrudate.
The grooves in the cylinder interior guarantee good shearing behaviour as well as optimal materials handling. When manufacturing pasta/noodles, the device offers an additional opening near the raw materials dosing area, with which a liquid pump can be used.
This solution allows for expansion options, such as connecting a Twin Screw Extruder in combination with the Lab-Station drive and/or use of the Planetary Mixer P 600. More information

Brabender
The space-saving, economical Stand-Alone Extruder KE 19 enables you to examine the processing behaviour of materials in the food sector. Thanks to its compact design and integrated drive, this lab extruder requires very little space. The solution is ideal for tests on lab-scale. Small sample sizes are enough for conclusive test results.

Brabender
The co-rotating Twin Screw Extruder TSE 20/40, with its low output rates of 0.5 to 10 kg/hour and hinged cylinder, has been specially designed for research and development applications. Tests at lab scale can be carried out with just a small amount of material. The hinged cylinder offers the ideal opportunity to analyze the screw configuration and the resulting material load.
The sample is inserted and then extruded by the twin-screw extruder. During the analysis, sensors and controllers measure relevant values, such as temperature and pressure. You are presented with clear values that you can use to form a correlation between the process and the product.
The solution is used in combination with the Lab-Station or Lab-Station EC drives. This configuration is especially recommended as a scalable system. As the measurement heads are interchangeable, if required a Single Screw Extruder 19/25 and a mixer can be connected. More information

Brabender
The TwinLab-F 20/40 convices by being a compact extrusion solution with integrated drive. This space-saving and economical solution texturizes the widest range of different materials. It enables developing new formulas and standards or simulating processes exactly to scale.

With a rotational speed of up to 1200 rpm, this extruder offers the user greater flexibility regarding energy input and throughput. Also, the cylinder is split horizontally and is hinged at both sides, which makes the segmented screws easily accessible.

The TwinLab- F 20/40 is a standalone solution for food extrusion at lab scale to modify and texturize various materials, such as proteins, starch, fish food, cereals and pasta.

Two versions are available: fully and partially tempered. More information

Brabender
The Modular Cooling Die in combination with an R&D extruder is an ideal tool for the production of texturized plant proteins on a laboratory scale. The modular concept allows the extrusion of different product dimensions as well as different raw materials (e.g. wheat gluten or soybeans). A profound product development in the laboratory and pilot plants offer time savings and a higher flexibility compared to large production plants.
During the ongoing measurement you keep the full control over the entire process. Six openings along the nozzle enable for example pressure or temperature measurement of the processed material. Structural changes can be recorded in real time and correlated with the resulting product properties.

The metering units are equipped with a CAN open bus drive offering the whole range of control-technical advantages of is fieldbus system. All components (incl. metering units) can be managed under a single software surface.

Complex compounding tasks often imply the application of several metering units (volumetric, gravimetric or combinations). In this case, the rates of the individual metering units need to be interlinked both with each other and with the extruder speed. BRABENDER® offers the corresponding control modules.
